Mayor Burke Appoints Board of Health Director

Mayor Stephanie M. Burke appoints MaryAnn O’Connor as the Board of Health Director for the City of Medford.

“I am looking forward to bringing my expertise and knowledge from my position as the Public Health Director for the Board of Health in the City of Lynn for 12 years to the City of Medford,” said MaryAnn O’Connor. “My new role will allow me to continue leading in health regulations, education and many other services within municipal government, which is truly rewarding.”

Ms. O’Connor has over thirty years’ experience in management and public health for both public, private and non-profit health service organizations. Within the last ten years MaryAnn has been responsible for the City of Lynn’s Public Health Department and all areas of inspectional, prevention and promotional public health activities including managing public health nurses, health inspectors and grant employees.

“I am confident that MaryAnn will be a valuable asset to the Board of Health and the City as a whole as she takes on this position,” said Mayor Stephanie M. Burke. “Prevention programming, community health education and inspectional services are priorities which MaryAnn’s experience will help bolster for the benefit of our entire community.”

Ms. O’Connor is a Lynn native and will bring her strong experience with a number of health initiatives that are similar to the City.
