Local Woman Joins Alzheimer’s Boston Marathon Team

Chrissy Horan of Medford is participating in the 2016 Boston Marathon as part of the RUN to End Alzheimer’s team for the Alzheimer’s Association®, MA/NH Chapter. Taking place on April 18, 2016, Horan will join other team members as they run 26.2 miles to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s.

“The RUN to End Alzheimer’s team has made a big commitment in the fight against Alzheimer’s,” said Jim Wessler, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Alzheimer’s Association, MA/NH Chapter. “Their dedication is inspiring and also supports critical research and support programs.”

Horan returns to the RUN to End Alzheimer’s team to run in honor of her Grandfather, Felix Iovino.

“I loved my grandfather very much. Volunteering and fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association since then makes me feel able to give back something to fight the disease, even if it didn’t directly help my grandfather,” said Horan.

To date, Horan has raised over $7,000 of her $10,000 fundraising goal. To donate to Chrissy visit alzrtr.org/1MZLu1l.

As part of the John Hancock Charity Program, the RUN to End Alzheimer’s team will hit the road from Hopkinton to Boston for the Boston Marathon’s 120th anniversary. In 2015, the RUN to End Alzheimer’s Boston Marathon team raised over $360,000 to help provide care, support and research funding for Alzheimer’s.
