Martin Won’t Seek Recount for Council Primary

Mario MartinCity Council candidate Mario Martin missed making it onto the November general election ballot by one vote on September 1. Martin says he won’t seek a recount because he is a “fiscally responsible advocate for the city.”

“I deem it unjust and entirely unnecessary to spend anymore tax payer dollars towards this primary,” said Martin in a statement. “The bottom line; 16 candidates running in the race coupled with a low voter turn out and 1000 blank votes, played a significant role in my ability to compete as a ‘new comer’.”

Martin said he is flattered that “so many have come forward” to ask if he would seek a recount.

“Every person that voted for me understood the message this campaign was pushing for and I’m proud to have earned your support, Thank you!” Said Martin. “It was a great run! The best part of ‘campaigning’ for a seat on the Medford City Council was campaigning and establishing meaningful relationships with Medford residents. I sincerely valued meeting everyone who agreed and even talking to friends who disagreed; it allowed me to look at other’s perspectives about this city.”
