Local NAACP Branch to Host Freedom Fund Breakfast April 18th

The Mystic Valley Area branch of the NAACP will hold the annual Freedom Fund Breakfast on Saturday April 18, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the Montvale Plaza in Stoneham.

The theme of this year’s breakfast is “Fair and Just Legislation Promotes Quality Education, Civil Rights and Greater Voter Participation.” The NAACP’s mission now 106 years old has always been ensuring political, educational, social and economic equality of rights for all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. This year’s theme addresses the means of accessing the levers of creating a justice society.

Our featured presenter is the highly acclaimed and sought after historian and activist Dr. Peniel Joseph. Dr. Joseph is the founding director of Tufts University’s Center for the Study of Race and Democracy. Other invited guests who are also branch members of the Mystic Valley branch include Mayor Michael McGlynn of Medford, Mayor Gary Christenson of Malden and Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine of Arlington.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Paul White Music Director of Peoples Baptist Church of Boston.
