Kickoff Meeting for Medford Educational Foundation Dec. 8th

Medford Educational Foundation Kickoff
Monday, December 8 from 7-8 PM
Medford Public Library, Medford, MA 02155

Please join us on Monday, Dec. 8th at the Medford Public Library’s Macgoun Room to kickstart the Medford Educational Foundation (MEF), a private 501(c)3 to supplement the city’s public education budget.

What is a local education fund (LEF)? An independent, non-profit, community-based organization that raises private funds to supplement the existing public school budget.

Other local examples include Arlington, Belmont, Boston, Hingham, Lexington, Lynn, Reading, Watertown, Winchester, and Woburn.*

The Medford Educational Foundation organizers have drafted a mission statement, which we invite you to come share in developing:

“The Medford Education Foundation is a non-profit foundation committed to supporting innovation and excellence in the Medford Public Schools. Our goal is to enhance educational opportunities for all Medford students by investing in classroom enrichment and professional development to support innovative teaching. We are committed to working for the whole child and every child.”

Guest speakers will include Mr. Dan H. Fenn, founder of the Lexington Educational Foundation, and Medford School Committee Representative Paulette Van der Kloot of the MEF organizing committee.
