Mystic Valley NAACP to Meet Nov. 25

As part of our effort to increase participation in the local regional NAACP the Mystic Valley Area Branch will hold a second general membership meeting in Arlington. Mystic Valley Area Branch’s jurisdiction includes: Arlington, Everett, Malden, Medford, Winchester, and Woburn. Over the past few years the branch held its membership meetings in Med-ford, its historical home, on the fourth Monday of the month at the West Medford Community Center on Arlington Street. Our next membership meeting, however, is scheduled in Arlington for 7:30 pm on November 25th in the Robbins Library Community Room located at 700 Massachusetts Avenue. In addition to conducting the business of nation’s oldest and boldest non-profit civil rights organization our next meeting includes a presentation from Voury Ignegongba, founder and President of Africans in Boston. Mr. Ignegongba [pronounced: I – ne- gon- ba] a son of a diplomat is a Chadian-American business man and real estate developer who founded Africans in Boston in 2010. Africans in Boston Inc. is an organization that fosters the socio-economic and educational development of its members by offering a platform that connects the African Diaspora in the greater Boston area and in the state of Massachusetts.

The public is welcome and encouraged to join us for lively discussions on is-sues important to civil rights advocacy as well as hear from dynamic presenters.

Mystic Valley Area Branch initially chartered as the Medford branch in 1977 carries on the mission of the NAACP founded in 1909. The lasting success of the NAACP now 104 years old is the forged partnership between blacks and whites working together toward equal justice without regard to race. From the ballot box to the classroom, the thousands of dedicated workers, organizers, leaders and members who make up the NAACP continue to fight for social justice for all Americans.
