AC Girls Cross Country Team Remains Undefeated for 5th Straight Season

The Arlington Catholic girls cross country team extended their five year unbeaten streak to thirty-nine and earned their fifth consecutive Central Catholic League regular season championship, according to Head Coach Jack Dempsey. The 8-0 Lady Cougars handily defeated both Cardinal Spellman 22-38 and Matignon 15-50 on their home course on Tuesday.

The AC boys cross country team also finished an outstanding season with double victories over Cardinal Spellman (28-30) and Matignon (15-49). The boys finished the regular season in second place in the CCL with a 7-1 record.

Senior captain Kaitlin McCauley (Watertown) led the Lady Cougars with a second place finish in 20:43. She was followed closely by freshmen Veronica Seguin (Bedford, 20:46) and Alexandra Kay (Melrose, 20:53) in third and fourth, respectively. Senior captain Olivia Liberti (Medford, 22:36) was sixth, junior Kathleen McLaughlin (Waltham, 22:37) was seventh, and senior captain Olivia Stewart (Medford, 22:58) finished in eighth place. Junior Grace Zukowski (Arlington), sophomore Olivia Bowman (Melrose), and freshman Marissa Pepe (Arlington) also contributed strong performances.

Senior captain Allen Judd (Burlington, 18:47) led his team with a third place finish. Sophomore Mike Vendetti (Lexington, 18:53) followed in fourth place, senior captain Nick Canniff (Arlington, 19:30) was sixth, senior captain Mike Kumar (Medford, 19:58) was seventh, Sebastian Bissereth (Somerville, 20:19) was eighth, and freshman Kevin Hickey (Arlington, 20:22) was ninth. Sophomore Connor Walsh (Billerica, 21:08), senior Kevin Hyacinthe (Burlington, 21:09), freshman James Condero (Woburn, 23:33), and sophomore Paul Reiss (Arlington, 24:47), followed.

Both teams are now preparing for several invitational and state competitions, starting with the Catholic Memorial Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday.
