Police Hockey Game Raises Money for Campbell Scholarship Fund

On June 1st, 2013 the Medford Police Department and Beverly Police Department played a charity hockey game at the O’keefe Rink in Peabody, followed by a benefit fundraiser at the Spotlight Tavern in Beverly, to raise money for the Krystle Campbell Scholarship Fund.

Medford PD prevailed in a thrilling overtime shootout victory in a hard fought and well played game by both teams. But the real winner was the Scholarship Fund. The Krystle Campbell Scholarship Fund was set up through the Medford Public Schools and was established to provide college scholarships to deserving students from the City of Medford on behalf of and in memory of Krystle Campbell, who was tragically killed as a result of the Boston Marathon bombings. Ms. Campbell was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 2001.

As a result of the fundraising efforts by Medford PD and Beverly PD, $5,830.00 has been raised so far. Medford PD wishes to thank the Campbell Family for their support, the Beverly Police Department, and all of the individuals and companies who donated their time, money, and effort to put on such a special event. We would also like to thank Medford’s own Hank Morse from 105.7FM WROR for volunteering his time to promote the event and “MC” the benefit show, Mike Mullaney from Mix 104.1FM, and Matt Siegel from Kiss 108FM who graciously provided us with air time and raffles to raise awareness and contributions. The Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox Organizations also were contributors to the event and we would like to thank them as well.

Donations are still being accepted and can be mailed to the attention of Jack Dempsey at Medford High School, 489 Winthrop St, Medford MA, 02155. He can also be reached by email at jdsportsvideo@aol.com.
