MHS Baseball Team Clinches State Tourney Spot

Senior captain Jake Porrazzo helped lift his team to victory with an early home run on Monday.

The Medford High School boys varsity baseball team punched their ticket to the post-season with an 11-2 home win over Somerville on Monday afternoon.

Chris Hayes earned the win on the mound and gave up only three hits while striking out ten, according to assistant coach Ryan Kozul.

Senior captain Jake Porrazzo led his team’s offense with a home run and three RBI’s. Nick Rocco and Dom Ramasci each contributed two RBI’s.

Medford is 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the Greater Boston League. Monday’s win guaranteed the Mustangs a spot in the state tournament.

Medford is on the road against Cambridge on Wednesday. The next home game is against Everett on Monday, May 15 at 4PM at Playstead Park.
