MHS Softball Team Shuts Out Cambridge

For the second straight GBL game the Medford High School girls varsity softball team came out of the gates quickly. The Lady Mustangs scored four runs in the top half of the first inning on their way to a convincing 15-0 road win over Cambridge.

Freshman pitcher Ashley Eisnor picked up her second win in a row. Eisnor pitched a one hit shut out, striking out nine and walking two Cambridge batters, according to Head Coach Jack Dempsey. Eisnor also contributed an RBI double in the fifth inning.

Sophomore Brianna Napoleone kept up her torrid hitting, banging out three hits while driving in five runs and scoring two runs. Sophomore Bailey Flynn chipped in with three hits, two runs and an RBI. Junior Sarah Donnelly belted two hits, scored two runs and drove in three more runs while senior captain Lauren Walsh contributed two singles, an RBI, and a run scored. Sophomore Hannah O’Leary also had a fine game, adding a couple of hits and an RBI.

Senior captains Sam LoPilato and Katie Napier each contributed a hit and an RBI while Allyson Mollung, Christina Lynch, Julia Mitrano, and Renee Staude each contributed a hit.

Medford is currently 2-0 in the GBL and 2-4 overall heading into Friday’s game at Everett.
