MHS Baseball Team Defeats Cambridge

The Medford High School boys varsity baseball team opened up a long home stand with a 10-4 victory over Cambridge on Monday.

Ryan Covelle pitched five innings, striking out eight, according to Head Coach Mike Nestor.

Dave Center provided “solid hitting” and was 2-3. Jeff Fargo was 1-3 with two RBI’s. Jake Porrazzo was 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Sean Doncaster, John Lavoie, and Kevin Andrew each contributed an RBI.

“Overall the team is playing with great character and really coming together as a team,” said Coach Nestor. “To come out playing today after such a long few days…we are very proud of our team and how we showed that we can overcome obstacles.”

Medford is home for the next six games. The Mustangs host Austin Prep on Wednesday and Everett on Friday.

Medford is 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Greater Boston League, according to assistant coach Ryan Kozul.
