Middlesex Sheriff to Host Inaugural Citizens Academy

MSO Training AcademyMiddlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian is pleased to announce the inaugural Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy.

The academy is a new initiative designed to provide Middlesex residents with a deeper understanding of the roles, responsibilities and activities of the Office. The academy will begin April 10 at the sheriff’s training academy in Billerica.

“We are extremely proud of what we do and how we do it day-in and day-out,” said Sheriff Koutoujian. “I invite residents to take this opportunity to get a fuller picture of the work of corrections officers and many of the functions the men and women of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office perform.”

Once a week, for eight weeks, citizens will be given an inside look at one of the nation’s oldest law enforcement agencies. Citizens will learn about the role of the Sheriff from Sheriff Koutoujian, receive a tour of the House of Correction, learn about women in corrections, hear from an inmate, and be introduced the office’s K-9 and Special Operations (SOU) teams.

A limited number of spots are available for the first class and will be filled in a first-come, first-serve basis. To secure your spot in the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy please contact Community Affairs Director Ken Doucette at 978-932-3266 or email kdoucette@sdm.state.ma.us.
