Menounos, Undergaro Film Opens March 8

Filmmakers and Medford natives Keven Undergaro and Maria Menounos (Extra host) have collaborated on a comedy feature that opens March 8, “Adventures of Serial Buddies.”

Undergaro and Menounos answered the following questions about themselves and their movie. The photos are behind-the-scenes photos of the production of “Serial Buddies.”

InsideMedford.com: Favorite thing or memory about Medford?

Menounos: I have so many memories. I definitely instantly remember the police and fire department that saved my dad’s life on numerous occasions. They were at my house in an instant on more occasions than I ever wish they had to be. They were always kind and warm and most of all, they made sure my dad is here today to enjoy all of my success. For that I’m eternally grateful.

Undergaro: Tufts Park was literally my backyard. All I had to do was hop the fence and I’d have every field to myself. I miss the food like LaCascia’s, DePasquale’s and Bob’s but I miss the people the most: genuine and loyal. I have honestly never felt home anywhere else but Medford.

InsideMedford.com: What other projects or movies have you collaborated on?

Menounos: While at Emerson college I produced Keven’s first feature “In the Land of Merry Misfits” that premiered at the Tribeca film festival. We’ve also done many short films that have made the festival rounds. We are also developing a slew of TV shows with, most notably, 50 Cent and Stan Lee. We also created and own AfterBuzz TV, an online broadcast network that airs post-game, wrap up after-shows for favorite TV shows. We produce 50+ hours of programming a week and play to a weekly audience of 20 million from over 75 countries.

InsideMedford.com: Advice for any young Medford residents who aspire to be actors, directors, producers, or writers in Hollywood?

Menounos: Train. If you are young, don’t think about getting cast on a Disney series. Instead take lessons and do local theater. When you are older you’ll be best prepared to succeed. If you are older then be proactive. There is no reason you can’t make your own movie or web series today. Don’t wait for the ball to come to you.

InsideMedford.com: Number one reason why Medford residents should come out and see this movie?

Menounos: If you want a laugh then we’re the movie to see. If that’s not reason enough, come out and support a couple of Medford natives!
