Don’t miss the Fourth Medford Children’s Art Showcase, on display beginning Saturday, February 23rd and continuing through Thursday, March 14th. This is a citywide exhibit of work by students in the Medford Public Schools. This collaborative and inclusive public exhibit celebrates the creativity and skill of our kids and art educators, from primary grades through high school. Artwork by third graders, seventh graders and high school students offer a unique snapshot of the continuum of art learning.

This exhibit has grown from 32 participants in 2009 to nearly 500 students this year. The kids are excited to know that their work will be displayed outside of the school environment. With projects ranging from undersea dioramas to abstract complementary color studies and scratchboard art, this exhibit displays the richness of arts education in the Medford Public Schools. Hosted for the third year in a row by the Meadow Glen Mall, the exhibit celebrates Medford’s talented students and art educators and coincides with National Youth Arts Month. This year, Meadow Glen Mall will also host a reception for teachers and students on March 2.

The Medford Children’s Art Showcase is supported in part by a grant from the Medford Arts Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. The exhibit is coordinated by local volunteers.
