Veterans Office Seeks Items, Letters for Troops

The Medford Office of Veterans’ Services is once again organzing “Operation Medford Cares” and is currently collecting items to be sent to military personnel stationed in the Middle East and overseas.

For a complete list of authorized items, to get a service person on the mailing list to receive a care package, or to volunteer, please call 781-393-2503.

Donated items will be accepted at the Office of Veterans Services’ from July 5, 2012 – August 1, 2012 ONLY during normal business hours, 8:30AM-4:30PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 8:30AM-7:30PM on Wednesday, and 8:30AM-12:30PM on Friday.

The items being collected would otherwise not be available to our service personnel. They want letters of encouragement and thanks, used or new DVD/CD’s, used or new soft covered books, new AA batteries, things that remind them of home, etc. The office can accept only authorized items for donation. Thank you for your cooperation.

We are also always looking for volunteers to donate requested items, help assemble packages, pick up donations, etc.

“The Office of Veterans’ Services realizes how important it is for the veteran to feel like part of his/her community, as well as for the community to have ties to our veterans. One of the best ways for this to happen is through community service. The Office of Veterans’ Services prides itself being able to put the community and the veteran together for a common goal…community enrichment!”
