City Adds More Classes to Summer Recreation Program

Medford’s Summer Recreation program directors Julia Damon and Ann Amirault have updated the ongoing summer recreation schedule with additional sports and art camps being made available within the next few weeks.

For those interested in street hockey, a summer camp is being held at Hormel Stadium the week of July 30th for ages 8-14 at a cost of $30 per student per session. Street Hockey camp will run from 9 AM – 12 noon, Monday, July 30th, Tuesday, July 31st, and Wednesday, August 1st.

For students interested in Cross Country/Track (grades 4-9), a training camp will be held at Medford High School, July 30th – August 3rd, from 9 AM – 11:30 AM, at a cost of $55 per student.

For youth who are interested in crew, novice rowing camps are available. For first time rowers, camp runs from July 23-August 10, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 AM – 1 PM at a cost of $80 per student. For experienced rowers, camp is run the same dates and days, but the times are different. Experienced rower camp times are 9 AM – 11 AM, again at a cost of $80 per student. Camp meets at rowing dock at Hormel Stadium. In addition, Sculling is being offered as an Adults’ Introduction Course and it begins July 9th and continues until July 30th. Class is held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 PM – 8 PM at a cost of $105 for Medford residents and $155 for non-Medford residents.

For students interested in arts and crafts camps (ages 5-13), two different classes are being offered the week of July 30th – August 3rd. Class 1 – “Nature Inspiration,” held from 9 AM – 1 PM at the McGlynn School for a cost of $105 per student OR Class 2 – “Artisan Jewelry Class,” which runs at the same place, dates and times, and for the same cost, $105 per student.
