Five Years of InsideMedford.com

I launched InsideMedford.com five years ago. In July 2007 about 360 people visited the site, which I thought was pretty good since I didn’t think too many people knew about it! Today around 27,000 people visit the site each month.

I’m extremely appreciative of everyone who visits the site and those who share announcements, stories, press releases, and photos. I’m very grateful of every business and individual who has ever advertised, especially the handful of regulars- John Brewer’s Tavern, Fitness Together, and Pompeo and Sons Insurance. These are local businesses run by members of our community and we should support them. I’ve been very particular about only having local businesses advertise on InsideMedford.com, out of respect for readers and to help local businesses maximize their reach to the community.

I launched InsideMedford.com when I was unemployed. I had just been laid of from Channel 4 news and, since I grew up in Medford and spent some time as a reporter for the Medford Daily Mercury, I had a great interest in community news. A few months after the site launched I was hired by the Medford Public Schools. I now work full-time as the webmaster for the school district and I teach web design at Medford High School. I also took over the responsibility of maintaining the city of Medford website last year.

I have deep Medford roots, and that’s what drives me to continue to manage a site that hopefully is both informative and entertaining. I will strive to make InsideMedford.com a true reflection of our community.
