Legion Baseball Team at .500 Midway Through Season

Catcher Jake Porrazzo (Medford High School) scored three of his team’s nine runs against Tyngsboro on Saturday.

The Medford Post 45 American Legion baseball team sandwiched losses to a tough Billerica team with a 9-5 road victory over Tyngsboro on Saturday afternoon.

Ryan Covelle (Malden Catholic) got the win on the mound, pitching six and 2/3 innings and giving up three runs. Paul Covelle (MC grad) got the save, pitching 1/3 of an inning and getting the final strike to end the game.

Three Medford Mustangs contributed two RBI’s each: John Lavoie (4-4), Mike Pizzi (2-3), and Kevin Andrew. Fellow Mustang Jake Porrazzo (2-3) scored three runs.

The legion team is 5-5 heading into a big home game against Wakefield on Thursday. The game is at 5:45PM at Playstead Park.
