Volunteers Clean Up, Plant Bushes at Victory Park

On Sunday, June 10 over 30 volunteers from Temple Shalom in Medford and Grace Episcopal Church in Medford joined in an interfaith clean-up of Victory Park on Winthrop Street in Medford.

Victory Park will be used June 15 and 16 by the Medford Family Network for their annual Teddy Bear Picnic, so efforts were focused on making sure the spaces they use will be free of glass and ready for small children.

Whole Foods Medford donated about 25 lilac bushes and 12 peonies, along with snacks and water. After the bushes were planted, the Medford Fire Department came to help water the new plants with a fire truck and hose!

On June 16, Green Up Clean Up is working with residents of the Capen Street area, the Medford Family Network and the City of Medford, with sponsorship from Whole Foods and Magnificent Muffin, to do a major clean up of the Capen Street Park. This park is a large park with a sprinkler system for children to play in. If you have not seen Capen Street Park, take this opportunity to come check it out and lend a hand, Saturday, June 16 from 9AM to 12PM.

So far this season the Green Up Clean Up Program has organized or assisted with seven community clean ups in Medford, with over 200 volunteers participating.
