City, School Budget Meetings Continue

The Medford School Committee and Medford City Council will meet this week to review the proposed budget for fiscal year 2013, which begins July 1.

The School Committee will meet on Monday, June 11, and Tuesday, June 12 at 7:00PM in the library at Medford High School.

Last year, the School Committee unanimously passed a $44,900,000 budget, which was a slight increase over the previous year.

The City Council will meet on Wednesday, June 13 to review the proposed budgets for the Department of Public Works and the Police and Fire Departments. The Committee of the Whole meeting is taking place at 5:30PM in Room 207 at Medford City Hall.

Fiscal year 2012 is coming to an end on June 30. Last year, the Council passed a $133 million budget, which was up by 1% from the previous fiscal year. That figure includes the school budget. The School Committee will send a proposed budget to the Council for final approval before the end of June.
