Medford Resident Earns Scholarship to Further Community Planning Goals

Connor Burke

Medford resident and Minuteman Regional Technical High School senior Connor Burke was recently awarded the Charles Eliot Scholarship for exceptional scholastic achievement in the field of community planning from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) in Boston.

The scholarship is named in memory of Charles Eliot II, who was an advocate of regional collaboration with a particular interest in land use planning, open space protection and ecological issues. The scholarship is awarded to a high school senior in the Greater Boston region who seeks to further their education in those fields.

“It’s an honor to receive this scholarship, which will allow me to further my education and to focus on the environmental aspects of planning,” said Burke, who received the award at MAPC’S Annual Meeting in Salem last week.

Burke has been a student in Minuteman’s Environmental Technology Program. He will pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies at the University of New England, which has campuses in Portland and Biddeford, Maine.
