Arts Council Holds Event for Grant Winners

At a reception at the Royall House and Slave Quarters on May 6, 2012, the Medford Arts Council celebrated its 2012 grant award winners.

A dance performance by Kelli Edwards and Sandra Zarotney Keldsen of Dances by Isadora kicked off the festivities. Artwork from 3rd grade students at the Roberts Elementary School was on display as part of the Children’s Art Showcase.

Every year, the Medford Arts Council hosts a reception to honor the groups and individuals bringing arts and cultural programming to our city and developing connections between art, education, commerce and a healthy economy.

Medford resident and artist Jenn DesAutels was singled out for recognition of her work to organize the Children’s Art Showcase in 2011 and 2012. The Arts Council-funded project has brought artwork from the public schools into view at the Meadow Glen Mall, the Royall House, and other locations. State Senator Pat Jehlen, State Representative Paul Donato, and City Councilor Rick Caraviello were on hand to celebrate Medford arts and creativity, along with a large number of grantees and Roberts Elementary School families.

Rep. Donato and Councilor Caraviello presented a key to the city and a citation on behalf of the mayor to Jenn DesAutels for her exemplary work.
