Rep. Markey Pushes for Action on Alzheimer’s

Country Music Legend Glen Campbell Joins Rep. Markey, Advocates In Call for Urgent Action on Alzheimer’s Disease on Tuesday

US Representative Ed Markey (D-Malden) will be joined by singer, songwriter, actor and Country Music Hall of Famer Glenn Campell on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. to call for urgent action to prevent and cure Alzheimer’s disease.

Campbell was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Campbell and his family have been speaking about his struggle with Alzheimer’s and their support for action to advance research and treatment.

The Department of Health and Human Services is scheduled to release the first ever National Alzheimer’s Plan on Tuesday morning, a result of bipartisan legislation authored in the House by Rep. Markey. The national plan includes the bold goal of preventing or treating Alzheimer’s disease by 2025.

Currently, approximately 5.4 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia.
