Volunteer School Tutors to be Recognized

Medford School Volunteers will recognize community volunteers for their year-long contribution to tutoring in the 2nd Grade Math Tutor program in Medford Public Schools next week. At the evening, we will be recognizing tutors for their contribution to Medford Public Schools and their commitment to the student whom they tutored this year.

Over 20 tutors provided one-on-one tutoring to 2nd graders in three Medford Elementary Schools and in-class tutoring to small groups. The program is modeled after a similar program in Cambridge and seeks to build both math skills and confidence around math for second graders.

The 2nd Grade Math Tutor Recognition event will be held on April 23rd from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. The recognition will take place at Brooks Elementary School in West Medford. We will be joined by volunteer tutors; students and their families; school administration and school committee members.

The 2nd Grade Math Tutor program is currently at 3 elementary schools and has 20 tutors providing one-on-one tutoring to 20 2nd graders. The program is a part of Medford School Volunteers, a community-based effort to provide support and resources to Medford Public Schools.
