Council to Review Mobile Food Carts, Massage Parlors

On Tuesday, April 17 the Medford City Council will meet to discuss mobile food carts and massage parlor licensing in Medford.

Prior to their regular 7:00PM meeting, the Council’s Subcommittee on Licensing will meet to discuss licensing for mobile food carts. The topic has been up for discussion several times and some Councilors have expressed concern with mobile food carts taking business away from local restaurants. The Subcommittee has asked for Public Health Director Karen Rose, Police Chief Leo Sacco, Fire Chief Frank Giliberti, Human Diversity Director Diane McLeod, Community Development Director Lauren DiLorenzo, Building Director Paul Mochi, and Ron DiFronzo of the Off Street Parking Commission to attend the meeting to provide input. The meeting is taking place at 6:00PM in Room 207 at Medford City Hall.

During the Council’s regular 7:00PM meeting Councilors will discuss a resolution offered by Council President Robert Maiocco to have the appropriate city departments collaborate to bring the licensing and regulation of massage parlors under the control of the city. Councilor Maiocco’s resolution follows recent news of two massage parlors in Medford being busted by police for providing sex for a fee.
