Students Fix Car for WWII Veteran

Collision Technology Instructor Joseph Kinch and students in his Automotive Collision Repair shop at the Medford Vocational Technical School recently spruced up a car for Medford resident and WWII veteran James Houlihan.

Kinch has been working on Houlihan’s 1992 Honda for years. Houlihan, 91, was in the Navy serving on the LCI 527 ship and was also in the Battle of Normandy.

Kinch and his students wanted to fix the car for Houlihan despite its condition.

“Normally we would not repair this car with the damage and rust but being a survivor and a WWII vet the students were gung-ho to do it,” said Kinch.

Not only did the students repair the car, they also added Houlihan’s ship number to each front door. The gesture was a surprise to Houlihan, who was excited to see his car when he picked it up.

Attached are photos of Houlihan with his car and students Diana Rindone, Eric Decricenso, Noah Charles, Jonny Bodkin, Michael Murozzi, Kevin Doherty, and Mike Bordanaro.
