Donato, Reps Pass Bill to Improve State Finance

State Representative Paul J. Donato (D-Medford, Malden) joined his colleagues in the House of Representatives in passing legislation that aims to improve and modernize the Commonwealth’s government and finance administration.

This legislation expands the oversight of the Treasurer and the Secretary of Administration and Finance, creates a new State Finance and Governance Board, and requires the monitoring of future trends in the budget planning process.

“I commend Chairman Kocot of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight and the rest of my colleagues in the House for the redrafting and passage of this bill,” said House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo (D – Winthrop). “This legislation streamlines our Commonwealth’s government and finance administration, while also promoting transparency and accountability.”

Representative Peter V. Kocot (D – Northampton), Chairman of the Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight, added, “I am confident that the passage of this legislation will lead to performance-based policy-making that will benefit every taxpayer in Massachusetts.”

“This legislation will assist lawmakers in the budget process and will provide us with information to make decisions with enhanced data before us”, said Representative Donato.
