The Classic Smile to Provide Free Dental Care to Needy Families

dental workOn Valentine’s Day The Classic Smile will provide complimentary dental care to families in need.

In conjunction with Shelter Inc., and Medford Family Life Education Center, Dr. Richard Short and his staff will volunteer their time and facilities to help families in the community receive care.

According to a statement from The Classic Smile, nearly one in four children aged two to 11 years old have untreated cavities in their baby teeth, and many children enrolled in Medicaid receive no dental services throughout the year.

“Dr. Short and his staff know that for some families this is the only treatment their children will see and by providing events like these, it gives public service providers a way to give back to the community,” said the statement.

“The state of the economy reminds us just how important the Doctors with A Heart organization has become,” said Nicole Rabideau, Event Director for The Classic Smile. “Nearly 13 mothers and children with receive free dental services ranging from screenings to cleanings up to fillings and more…. But I worry about the thousands of children and families who don’t have the opportunity to come to the event- the ones who continue to have trouble eating, sleeping and paying attention in class because thier teeth are in such bad shape. Our children deserve a better health care system that addresses their needs.”

The Classic Smile is located at 92 High Street in Medford.
