Dogs Help Tufts Students Relieve Finals Stress

It’s nearing the end of first semester and the Office of Residential Life and Learning at Tufts University is helping students relieve some stress in a creative and unusual way- with therapy dogs.

On a wet Thursday afternoon students were invited to Miller Hall, where they were greeted by three friendly dogs from Dogs Building Opportunities for Nurturing and Emotional Support (Dog B.O.N.E.S.), an organization that provides well-trained and obedient therapy dogs for visits to places like hospitals, schools, and nursing homes. Dozens of students gathered in the first floor lounge to play with the animals and to make them work for treats.

According to Tufts spokesman Alex Reid, the university held two similar events last year.
