Mystic River/Condon Shell Park Cleanup October 15

Friends of the Mystic River will hold its 17th annual Mystic River Fall Cleanup from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15.

The cleanup will center on the area around the Condon Band Shell, site of the Mystic River Celebration to be held the following Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Celebration is part of the Medford on the Mystic Arts Festival that is taking place throughout October (see www.medfordfestival.org for a schedule and other details).

At the cleanup, trash and debris will be collected along the river banks and in nearby grassy fields at the Condon Shell Park and other selected locations between the Lower Mystic Lake and Torbert MacDonald Park.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome to help and should check in at the parking lot next to the Condon Shell, on Route 16 east of Winthrop Street (Route 38) in Medford. The Friends will supply bags, gloves and pokers.

Workers may clean as long as they wish. Refreshments will be provided. In the event of heavy rain on October 15, the cleanup will be held on Sunday, October 16.

Friends of the Mystic River (www.fomr.org) is a Medford-based community organization focused on the enjoyment, protection and enhancement of the Mystic River in Medford.
