Mustang Volleyball Team Back in Action

The Medford High/Voc-Tech High School Volleyball program has gotten underway with their fall season. The program is led by a strong group of returning players and a returning coaching staff. The Varsity Team is led by seniors Rachel Keen (captain), Christine Feeley (captain), Katie Bowler (captain), Kelly Hayes, Daniella Lindemeyer, Kathryn Ellersick, Michelle Nguyen, and Rayann Staude. Varsity also has a strong group of juniors, including Katie Napier, Alison Ross, JoAnn Paul, and Lydia Regan, as well as juniors Kayla Greeley, Devin O’Hare, Katherine Corneilson, and sophomore Miranda Arena.

Players from all three teams, varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen, worked hard in the week and a half prior to the start of school to land a spot on one of the teams and get ready for the first match of the season on Wednesday, September 7 at Stoneham High School. Unfortunately, the Mustangs did not meet with victory in this first match, but they take information on areas to be improved on in practice and are getting focused on their first home game on Friday, September 9 against Arlington High School (JV and Freshmen at 4:00, Varsity at 5:15).

The student-athletes in the volleyball program are a hard-working and positive group of people, ready to learn and improve themselves and always there to support each other. This will be an exciting season to watch on all levels.
