Tufts Welcomes Class of 2015

On Wednesday, August 31, the newest Jumbos descended upon Tufts University’s campus. Three Medford High School students are in the Class of 2015: Katelyn M. DiBenedetto, Daniel Beemon and Emily Carol Nixon.

Here’s a look at the incoming class by the numbers:

– 17,132 applicants
– 21.9 offered admission (most selective class ever)
– 1,321 freshmen
– 156th entering class
– 47 states represented
– 57 nations represented
– 27% Americans of color
– 217 non-native English speakers
– 10% are first generation college students
– 89% graduated in top 10% of their high school class
– Mean SAT scores of 707 Critical Reading, 716 Math and 715 Writing
– 44% received financial aid

Wednesday’s matriculation was new president Anthony Monaco’s first at Tufts. Monaco is pictured below addressing the new Jumbos.
