City Council Meeting Tuesday, August 16

The Medford City Council, following a lighter summer schedule, will meet for the month of August on Tuesday, August 16. The meeting will take place at 7:00PM at Medford City Hall.

Items on the agenda include requests from Mayor Michael McGlynn to change health insurance for city employees and to amend the city’s “nuisance control” ordinance.

Mayor McGlynn has asked the Council to approve a new local option that would allow a community to change how much city employees pay for co-pays and deductibles on their health insurance. If the Council approves the measure there still needs to be a written agreement between the city and the public employee committee.

Mayor McGlynn is also asking the Council to approve changes to the city’s nuisance control ordinance that would impose liability on property owners or those responsible for “nuisances and harm caused by loud and/or unruly gatherings on private property,” and that will prohibit underage drinking at private gatherings. Fines for violating the public nuisance ordinance are $300 for the first offense, $400 for the second, and $500 for each subsequent offense.

The Council meeting will be broadcast live on Channel 16 starting at 7:00PM on Tuesday.
