Legion Baseball Team Advances in Playoffs

The Medford Post 45 American Legion baseball team defeated Concord 9-4 on the road on Tuesday in the playoff opener.

Medford High School graduate Chris Salvati pitched a complete game to earn the win, according to Coach Ryan Kozul.

“He did a great job battling through in the extreme heat,” said Kozul.

MHS alum Danny Gilchrist led the offense, going 4-4 with a home run, two RBI’s, and three runs scored.

MHS alum Kyle Heath was 2-4 with a double and an RBI while fellow Medford Mustangs Pat Duffy and John Lavoie each contributed two RBI’s. Belmont Hill’s Nolan Brennan continued with his consistently strong performance, going 2-4 with a double.

The team heads to #1 seed Billerica on Wednesday in the winner’s bracket quarterfinals, according to Kozul.
