Mayor: Recycling Up, Trash Costs Down

Mayor Michael J. McGlynn today announced the results of Medford’s new Trash & Recycling Program.

“Over the last seven months, the City has seen a savings of $338,000 thus far and we have collected 3947 less tons of trash. For the month of May alone we had 423 less tons of trash and over the last three months we have also been credited $7600 towards recycling costs. This program has been such a win-win for this community,” said the Mayor.

In addition, the Mayor said: “Recently, the price of paper and cardboard recycling has gone up $10.00 a ton. We urge our citizens to continue with their recycling. Please remember to place your paper and cardboard items in your recycling barrel, not your trash barrel. Recycling markets fluctuate and right now paper and cardboard are the hot items. When you recycle them, the City saves money.”

“As always, it is gratifying to see the citizens working together to help make Medford a greener place in which to work, play and live,” said Mayor McGlynn.
