Route 93 Median Crossover Test Friday Night

I-93 construction activities to prepare for the replacement of fourteen deteriorated bridge superstructures in Medford this summer will continue over the weekend and next week.

The second test deployment of the median crossover system will take place between 8:00 PM Friday, May 20th and 5:00 AM Saturday, May 21st.

The following work activities and related lane closures are scheduled:

Route I-93 Southbound

– Double left lane closures from the northern median crossover prior to Exit 33 (Route 28) to the southern median crossover beyond Exit 30 (Route 38) on Friday, May 20 from 7:45 PM to 5 AM.

Route I-93 Northbound

– Closure of two lanes from the southern median crossover beyond Exit 29 (Routes 28/38) to the northern median crossover beyond Exit 33 (Route 28) on Friday, May 20 from 8 PM to 5 AM.

– Right lane closure near Exit 31 (Route 16) on Saturday morning, May 21 from 5 AM to 11 AM and on Saturday night, May 21st from 8 PM to 11 AM.

– Right lane closure at Exit 31 (Route 16) on Thursday, May 24 from 9 AM to 2 PM.

– Double left lane closure at Exit 31 (Route 16) on Thursday, May 24 from 8 PM to 1 AM, expanding to triple left lane closure between 1 AM and 5 AM.

– Double left lane closures at isolated locations between Exit 29 (Routes 28/38) and Exit 33 (Route 28) on Sunday, May 22 through Thursday, May 26 from 8 PM to 5 AM.

Local Roadways & Waterways

– Intermittent single lane and shoulder closures on Riverside Avenue, Salem Street East and West, Valley Street, Webster Street and Route 16 beneath I-93 on Monday, May 23 through Friday, May 27 from 7 AM to 5:30 PM. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

– Intermittent single lane and shoulder closures with the potential for full roadway closures on Route 60 (Salem Street) on Friday, May 20 through Saturday, May 21 from 9 PM to 5 AM.

– Intermittent single lane and shoulder closures with the potential for full roadway closures on Route 16 on Monday, May 23 through Friday, May 27 from 9 PM to 5 AM.

– Barge placement and periodic movement within the Mystic River will reduce the navigable channel on Friday, May 20 though Friday, May 27.

MassDOT encourages drivers and marine traffic to allow extra time for their trips and to reduce speed and use caution when travelling through all work zones.
