Timmins Sisters Lift Lacrosse Team to Victory

– Allison Goldsberry

Sisters Olivia and Katherine Timmins combined for twelve of the Mustang lacrosse team’s goals in their 20-8 victory over Dracut on Friday.

Olivia dropped seven goals and an assist, bringing her totals to an impressive seventy-one goals and twenty assists on the season. Little sister Katherine added five goals.

Like all of the team’s wins this season, a strong supporting cast on offense and defense worked hard for the win. Both goalies, Bianca Nargi and Rachel Keene, had three saves. Leigh Williams did a “nice job feeding the ball,” with three assists, said Head Coach Matt Galusi. Alana Viveiros, Ericka Silva, and Katie O’Brien each added a goal, while Michaela Botticelli and Sophie Karon each had two goals. Bernice Galebach nabbed her first-ever varsity goal.

The “big win” gets the Mustangs “back on track,” said Coach Galusi, after falling to Central Catholic on Thursday despite a good fight. Friday’s win over Dracut on Friday the thirteenth is “fittingly” the team’s thirteenth win of the season.

Medford is 13-3 heading into a busy week at home. On Monday at 4:00PM the girls host Andover. On Tuesday Watertown visits for a 7:00PM night game. On Wednesday, Senior Night, the Mustangs host Haverhill under the lights at 7:00PM.
