Prep Work Continues This Week

I-93 construction activities to prepare for the replacement of fourteen deteriorated bridge superstructures in Medford this summer will continue over the weekend and next week.

The following work activities and related lane closures are scheduled:

Route I-93 Southbound

– Left lane closure at Riverside Avenue beyond Exit 32 (Route 60) on Wednesday, May 11 through Thursday, May 12 from 8 PM to 5 AM.

Route I-93 Northbound

– Double left lane closures at isolated locations between Exit 29 (Routes 28/38) and Exit 33 (Route 28) on Sunday, May 8 through Thursday, May 12 from 8 PM to 5 AM.

– Double right lane closures at Riverside Avenue prior to Exit 32 (Route 60) on Monday, May 9 through Tuesday, May 10 from 8 PM to 5 AM.

– Double left lane closures at Riverside Avenue prior to Exit 32 (Route 60) on Wednesday, May 11 through Thursday, May 12 from 8 PM to 5 AM.

– Double left lane closures near Exit 31 (Route 16) and near Roosevelt Circle at Exit 33 (Route 28) on Wednesday, May 11 through Friday, May 13 from 8 PM to 5 AM.

– Right lane closure prior to Exit 32 (Route 60) on Monday, May 9 through Friday, May 13 from 9AM to 2 PM.

Local Roadways and Waterways

– Intermittent single lane and shoulder closures on Riverside Avenue, Salem Street East and West and Route 16 beneath I-93 on Saturday, May 7 and on Monday, May 9 through Friday, May 13 from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

– Closure of Riverside Avenue from Clippership Drive to Park Street on Friday, May 6 through Sunday, May 8 from 9 PM to 5 AM.

– Barge placement and periodic movement within the Mystic River will reduce the navigable channel on Friday, May 6 though Friday, May 13.

MassDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time for their trips and to reduce speed and use caution when traveling through all work zones.
