The girls varsity lacrosse team dug deep and pulled out two back-to-back victories over Haverhill and Watertown on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday’s 11-10 victory over Haverhill came down to the last seconds of the game. Senior defender Katie O’Brien scored the goal of the game, netting a goal when it counted with thirty eight seconds to go and lifting the Mustangs to their 11-10 victory.

Madie Forcier led all scorers with four goals, with Olivia Timmins contributing three, Michaela Botticelli adding two, and Katherine Timmins scoring one goal.

“This was a total team effort. These girls showed they know how to win. They did a great job and I’m proud of them,” said Head Coach Matt Galusi.

On Friday morning the Mustangs defeated Watertown 14-5 on the road. The team started off slow and was “sloppy” early on but picked up the pace for the win. Olivia Timmins was “as usual very impressive” with five goals and an assist, racking up thirty goals and ten assists on the season so far.

“Those are just ridiculous numbers,” said Coach Galusi.

It was also another solid team victory for Medford, with both the offense and defense working together nicely. Both goalies, Bianca Nargi and Rachel Keene, defended the net and “were tremendous,” said Galusi. Nargi played the first half and had four saves and Keene was in the net for the second half with one save.

Katherine Timmins dropped three goals and an assist, Alana Viveiros added two goals and an assist, and Ericka Silva, Paige McGlynn, Taylor Mason, and Christine Vickers each contributed a goal.

The 6-1 Mustangs host North Reading High School at 10:00AM on Saturday.
