Timmins, Keene Lead Girls Lacrosse to Victory

The girls varsity lacrosse team got it done again with a 12-8 victory over Shawsheen under the lights on Friday night.

“We love the home cooking,” said Head Coach Matt Galusi.

Olivia Timmins was again an offensive leader for the team, adding five goals and two assists. Timmins, as usual, was joined by several Lady Mustangs on the offensive attack, with each win truly a team effort. Madie Forcier racked up four goals and one assist, Michaela Botticelli netted her first goal of the season, Ericka Silva had one goal and one assist, Christina Vickers contributed a goal, and Katherine Timmins had two assists.

Coach Galusi also recognized Kathleen Harding for her role, which doesn’t always get noticed by the press.

“Kathleen Harding again continued her dominance on the draws, winning almost every face-off. Every time she wins a face-off that puts us in position to win the game,” said Galusi.

Goalie Rachel Keene was also key in the Mustangs’ victory, making twelve saves in the net.

“This whole team is really coming together,” said Coach Galusi.

The Mustangs, reigning Greater Boston League champions, have their eyes on their first GBL game of the season on Tuesday when they head to Malden. The next home game is Thursday, April 14 when Medford hosts Cambridge at 4:00PM. Medford is currently 2-0.
