Report of Morrison Park Assault Found False

Fox25 News reported on Thursday that police were investigating an assault in which one person was seriously injured.

A report of an alleged sexual assault that took place at Morrison Park late Wednesday has been found false, according to Medford Police.

Police say they received a call around 11:30PM Wednesday night that a woman had been sexually assaulted in the park. Police have been reluctant since that time to release any information about the incident for reasons they can’t make public.

According to a statement released by Lieutenant Paul Covino, the incident initially seemed to require a detailed investigation so police acted accordingly. The investigation found that “this crime and no other crime against a person or property was committed,” so no criminal charges are pending.

Morrison Park is located on Central Avenue in Medford.
