Sen. Jehlen Hosts Budget Forum April 12

Senator Patricia Jehlen invites all residents concerned about the state budget to a forum at the Brooks School in Medford on April 12th.

Noah Berger, Executive Director of Massachusetts Budget and Policy, will explain the state budget shortfall, its causes, consequences and potential remedies. Thomas A. Kochan, Co –Director of the Institute of Work and Employment Research at MIT Sloan School of Management, will discuss current labor issues including wage and benefit comparisons between public and private sector workers. Following the presentations, there will be opportunities for questions and feedback.

Across the country states are wrestling with budget shortfalls, challenges to collective bargaining, and divisions over the very role of government itself. This forum will provide an opportunity to hear from experts on these issues and to engage in a conversation about the realities of our current situation and our options in resolving our budget crisis.

The forum will begin at 7 pm, with refreshments at 6:45. The Brooks School is located at 388 High Street in Medford.
