New City Councilor Offers Resolutions Concerning Illegal Turns, Parking

Mark Arena, who was officially sworn in as a City Councilor on February 15, has offered his first resolutions for the Council’s February 22 meeting and they both concern South Medford traffic.

The Colby Street resident has asked the Traffic Commission to look into illegal turns to and from Benton, Yale, and Radcliffe Streets and traffic issues stemming from parking and driving along his small South Medford street from Harvard Street to Yale Street.

Arena said the resolutions are “keeping in the theme of this particular neighborhood” as traffic and parking concerns are persistent issues, especially since the development of the former Lincoln-Kennedy School into condos.

“They’re both serious threats to public safety and I think these two resolves would complete the most pressing traffic and pedestrian issues in this area,” said Arena.

The resolutions will be discussed during the Council’s regularly scheduled Tuesday meeting on February 22. The meeting takes place at Medford City Hall at 7PM and is broadcast live on Channel 16.
