Double Shooting in Medford Friday Claims 1 Life

Medford Police and the Middlesex County District Attorney are investigating a double shooting that claimed the life of a Medford man.

According to authorities, at approximately 10:40 p.m. Friday night, police received a report of possible shots fired at 55 Jerome Street in West Medford. Officers arrived and discovered two victims, a father and son, suffering from obvious gun shot wounds. Both victims were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

One of the victims, identified as John Hatch, 36, died at the hospital. The other victim, Hatch’s father, has since been transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital and is expected to survive.

Medford Police and State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office are conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting. Authorities do not believe the shooting incident to have been random.

The investigation remains ongoing.
