Boys Basketball Defeats Malden

The boys varsity basketball team pulled out a very solid 74-54 victory over Malden on Friday night at home.

The Mustangs were up 35-23 at halftime and easily held onto their lead for the win.

Head Coach Anthony Faradie said it was a “good performance on the night all around and a real team win.”

Dan Gilchrist led the team with twenty-one points, while Sean Doncaster added sixteen and Owen Healey had twelve.

“Owen Healey is really playing some great basketball for us. He just gets it done. Knocks down shots and is all over the floor defensively,” said Coach Faradie.

Medford is currently 6-9 overall and 2-5 in the Greater Boston League. The Mustangs need to win four out of their next five games in order to qualify for the state tournament.

The team is back in action at Pope John on Tuesday night. They head to Malden on Thursday and host Billerica on Friday at 7:30pm.
