Committee Assignments Released for Medford Reps

State Representatives Paul Donato (D-Medford, Malden), Carl Sciortino (D-Medford, Somerville), and Sean Garballey (D-Arlington, Medford) received the following committee assignments for 2011:

Ethics
Floor Division Chair, Third Division

As a Division Leader, Donato will be responsible for helping to guide legislation through the House of Representatives as part of the Speaker’s leadership team. Prior to this promotion, Donato was Chairman of Municipalities and Regional Government and had previously served as Chairman of Steering, Policy, & Scheduling.

“I am grateful to the Speaker and to my colleagues for their confidence by voting me to this position,” said Donato. “We face challenging times in the upcoming session and I look forward to working with all members of the House to provide meaningful legislation.”

“I am grateful that the Speaker has asked me to serve as his Vice Chair on the Joint Committee on Election Laws. With redistricting approaching in the Legislature this promises to be a very busy committee and I am looking forward to getting to work. I am also proud to be appointed to the Joint Committee on Municipalities. With the House of Representatives debating everything from local aid to health insurance costs, serving on this committee will benefit my communities. I also look forward continuing to serve as the Co-Chair of the Public Higher Education Caucus and as Co-Chair of the MBTA/Public Transportation Caucus,” said Rep. Garballey.

State Senator Patricia Jehlen (D-Somerville, Medford), also recently received her committee assignments for the State Senate. Sen. Jehlen will continue to chair the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs. She is also vice-chair of Education, and a member of the committees on Ways and Means, Health Care Finance, Children and Families, Housing and Judiciary.
