MHS Students Selected to Perform in Music Festival

MHS music students

Four Medford High School students were selected to participate in the 2011 Massachusetts Northeastern District Senior Music Festival.

After auditions of 1,000 students from more than 50 public and private schools held in November, 420 students from grades nine through twelve were selected to participate in this prestigious Massachusetts Music Educators Association event. The program is offered by the M.M.E.A. as an enrichment opportunity providing a challenging musical experience to talented young people.

MHS seniors Gia Greene (soprano) and Emory Paine (bass) were selected for the Chorus; sophmores Kylie Baker (cello) and Bailey Lee (viola) will perform in the Orchestra. They will rehearse over three days with guest conductors Catherine Connor-Moen (Chorus) and John Page (Orchestra) and then perform in a concert to be held at Lowell High School on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm.

The students wish to thank Medford High faculty members Richard Trotta, Tony Szykniej and Andrew Wray for their support.
