City to Dedicate Memorials to Late Pols, WWII Vets

The city of Medford has two public dedication ceremonies this weekend for memorials built in honor of two late politicians and six family members who served in World War II.

On Saturday, October 16 a dedication ceremony for a memorial at the corner of Frederick and Main Streets in South Medford will take place for the six members of the Rapallo family who served in World War II, including four brothers, a cousin, and a brother-in-law (Cammarata). Rapallo family children and grandchildren, including Niki Bradshaw, Fred Rapallo’s granddaughter, and Jane Cassidy, Steve Rapallo’s daughter, are participating in the ceremony.

The ceremony is taking place at 10:00AM.

State Representative Michael Catino and Marilyn Catino Porreca, Medford’s first female mayor and councilor, will be honored in a special dedication ceremony on Sunday, October 17. Family members, including Krista Porreca. Loren Porreca, Gina Leonard, Annemarie Porreca, Michael Hurm, and Elizabeth Hurm, grandchildren of Marilyn Catino Porreca, Nanci Porreca, Catino’s granddaughter, and Cathi Porreca Leonard, Porreca’s daughter, are participating in the ceremony.

The ceremony is taking place at 2:00PM at Mystic Riverbend Park.

Porreca, who passed away in 2008, is the daughter of Catino.
