Mustang Soccer Teams Top GBL

Both the boys and girls varsity soccer teams have undefeated records in the Greater Boston League.

The girls varsity soccer team continued their winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Dracut on Wednesday. The entire game was a scoreless battle until Olivia Timmins carried the ball through the midfield and passed it to Amanda Goguen, who blasted the ball right by the Dracut goalie.

Mustang goalie Jackie Pellechia had ten saves in the net, including four amazing diving saves to preserve the shutout. Pellechia remains the Greater Boston League’s top goalie with seven shutout victories.

Medford travels to Cambridge on Friday, October 15 for a 4:00pm game. The 8-2-1 Mustangs are currently undefeated in the GBL with a 5-0 record.

The boys varsity soccer team had another tie game, this time against East Boston on Wednesday. The Mustangs’ lone goal was scored midway through the first half of the game by junior John Dumbuya with an assist by senior captain Cesar Silva.

The 7-1-5 Mustangs are currently undefeated in the GBL with four wins and two ties against Somerville and Cambridge. Medford hosts Cambridge on Friday afternoon.

On Tueday the boys paid a very special visit to their honorary team captain, Gidge Farraher, at Massachusetts General Hospital. Video highlights of their visit, along with video from the Malden and East Boston games, are available here.
