A Cambridge man has been arraigned on a charge of murder in connection with the death of a Weymouth man in Medford in August, according to information released by Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone.

Christopher Toppi, 28, of Cambridge, was arraigned Wednesday in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn on a charge of first degree murder. The arraignment follows his indictment on the charges last week.

Toppi is being held without bail and will appear again in court on October 28 for a pre-trial conference.

Toppi is accused of beating to death 28-year-old Brian Fahy of Weymouth at a Medford home on August 28. He turned himself into authorities hours after the incident and after police issued a warrant for his arrest.

Fahy was found unresponsive around 3:30AM on August 28 at a 382 Salem Street home. Emergency personnel found Fahy bleeding from his head and nose and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say Toppi started a fight with Fahy and then beat him to death. An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of death homicide.

Toppi pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in August.
